NYU Shanghai’s 2019 Commencement Ceremony will be held at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. The Shanghai Oriental Arts Center is a 15-minute walk from the university, at the edge of Century Park.

There are a number of parking lots near the venue, but public transportation is a more convenient alternative. Please note that the campus parking lot will NOT be open to outside parking.





All students, faculty, family members, friends, and guests must present a ticket to access the Ceremony Hall.


Doors open at 1:20pm and close at 1:50pm. The ceremony begins at 2pm, and we recommend arriving early so you can find your seat.


If you arrive after the doors close at 1:50pm, you must wait until 2:20pm to be escorted into the auditorium, and will miss the Graduation Procession.





Wheelchair accessible seating sections have been reserved for guests with mobility impairment. If you or any of your guests require accessible seating or special assistance at the ceremony, please inform


Shanghai Oriental Arts Center does not provide hearing aid or wheelchair hire services.

Lost And Found


The lost and found is located at Entrance 3 of the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center.





Safety is our number one priority, and staff will take every reasonable step to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone at the Ceremony.      


For the safety of all guests, all attendees will be required to go through metal detectors before entering the Ceremony hall.


The Shanghai Oriental Arts Center requires all guests to abide by the following policies:


  • Enter through mandatory security checkpoints.

  • Guns, knives, lighters, flammable objects, explosives, and ammunition are strictly prohibited.

  • A valid admission ticket is required for entry.

  • No food, drinks, alcohol, or chewing gum will be allowed into the Center.

  • Smoking is prohibited throughout the Center.

  • The Ceremony is not suitable for young children, and children under age seven will not be allowed to attend the event.

  • Backpacks, plastic bags, and outerwear can be stored in the first floor cloakroom near the lobby entrance before entering.

  • Unauthorized video recording is not allowed.

  • Latecomers will be escorted by staff into the auditorium after 2:20pm.

  • All mobile phones should be silenced for the duration of the event.
