NYU Shanghai’s inaugural Commencement Ceremony will be held at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, a short walk from the university on the edge of Century Park.
Getting to the Ceremony
The Shanghai Oriental Arts Center is located at 425 Dingxiang Road, near the junction with Century Avenue.
There are a number of parking lots near the venue, however we urge you to travel green. Please note that the campus parking lot is NOT open to outside parking.
To arrive by subway, take Metro Line 2 to Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and come out of the station at exit 1, 7 or 8. The venue is then a few minutes walk across Century Park. You may also take Metro Line 4 to Pudian Road (exit 2) from where it is a 15-minute walk along Century Avenue to the venue.
The Shanghai Oriental Arts Center is also served by local bus routes 638, 640, 788, 794, 815, 972, 975, 983, 984 and 987.
All students, faculty, families, friends, guests must present a ticket to access the hall. Seating will be allocated. Doors open at 1.20pm and close at 1.50pm. We recommend arriving 45 to 30 minutes before the ceremony begins at 2pm to take your seat. If you arrive after the doors have been closed, you must wait to be escorted by staff into the auditorium after 2.20pm once the Graduation Procession has concluded.
Disability seating sections have been reserved for guests in wheelchairs or with mobility impairment. If you or any of your guests require accessible seating or special assistance at the ceremony, please inform firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that hearing loop and wheelchair hire are not available at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center.

Lost And Found
The lost and found is located at entrance No. 3 of the Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
Safety is The Shanghai Oriental Art Center’s number one priority and the staff will take every reasonable step to provide a secure and enjoyable environment for everyone entering the Center.
For the safety of all guests, all persons are required to go through metal detectors prior to entry. Anyone or any object that could jeopardize the safety and wellbeing of those in the Oriental Art Center will be denied access.
The Shanghai Oriental Art Center requires all guests to abide by the following policies:
All are subject to security check points.
Guns, knives, lighters, flammable objects, explosives, and ammunition are strictly prohibited.
All must enter the Center with a valid admission ticket, dress neatly, and should comport themselves appropriately.
No food, drinks, or alcohol will be allowed into the Center. Guests must also not chew gum.
Smoking is prohibited throughout the whole Center.
The ceremony can be boring for young children who may cause disruption to other guests, therefore we kindly ask that you do not bring children under 7 to the event, as they will not be allowed to enter the Center.
Backpacks, plastic bags, and outerwear wear shall be stored in the cloakroom near the lobby entrance, on the first floor, before entering.
Video recording without prior authorization is not allowed.
Latecomers will be escorted by staff into the auditorium after 2.20pm.
All mobile phones should be silenced for the duration of the event.
