Bestowed to students who completed the designated honors sequence in their major and maintained a requisite grade point average.

NYU Shanghai Excellence Award

Following the practice in Chinese universities, NYU Shanghai awards honors for academic excellence, known as 上海纽约大学优秀毕业生 in Chinese, to the top 20 percent of graduates based on cumulative grade point average through seven semesters of coursework.

Phi Beta Kappa

As part of New York University, NYU Shanghai's top students who have demonstrated breadth and depth in their studies of the liberal arts are considered for membership in NYU's chapter of The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the oldest academic honor society in the United States.

Latin Honors

NYU Shanghai students are awarded Latin graduation honors based on cumulative grade point average through seven semesters of coursework:

  • Summa cum laude
    (highest honors) is awarded to the top 5 percent of students.
  • Magna cum laude
    (high honors) is awarded to the next 10 percent of students.
  • Cum laude
    (honors) is awarded to the next 15 percent of students.

New York University Honors

Students earned this award by obtaining a cumulative grade point average through seven semesters of coursework that places them within the top 40 percent of their school's graduating class.

Global Leadership Certificate

Presented by the Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs for completing the courses, study away, language, service work, and reflection paper required for the certificate.
